Turning the Prevention Dial: The Option to Choose Much Much Protection

Patients and their preventive cardiologists can turn the "knob of the prevention dial" from a little prevention to the maximum possible based on available scientific knowledge. Make your selection.

Optimal cholesterol therapy prevents first heart attack and breaks the recurring cycle of events for those with already established disease.

Benefits of cholesterol treatment in those without heart disease

Slide on the left shows lower events for those that took statin (green) compared to those that took placebo (red). The benefits occurred early and increases with time. The longer you have been taking statin, the greater the benefits.

Slide of the right shows 40% reduction of fatal heart attack, 33% reduction in need for heart bypass, etc. in patients without heart disease who took statin compared to those that took placebo.

Benefits of cholesterol treatment in those with heart disease

Slide on the left shows 42% reduction of fatal heart attacks, 37% reduction in need for heart bypass, 30% reduction of stroke, etc. for those that took statin compared to placebo.

Slide of the right shows even greater risk reduction as LDL cholesterol is lowered even further to less than 70 mg/dl.

Plaque regression due to cholesterol treatment in patients with heart disease

Slides on the left and on the right show that plaque regression is now achievable with aggressive cholesterol treatment.

Even larger benefits of combination cholesterol treatment for those heart disease

Slide on the left shows 93% reduction of deaths and 72% reduction of heart attacks with combination therapy.

Slide of the right shows 89% reduction of combined events with combination therapy.
